DIRECTIONS FOR USAGE

worm castings

worm castings

Planting

Before planting seeds or seedlings- evenly spread 1 gallon of our premium Red Wiggler castings per 30 sq. ft. of garden area.  Work the castings 2'' deep into your garden soil and then throughly saturate with water to flush the microorganisms and minerals into the garden soil.

Transplanting Seedlings/Potted Plants

When transplanting seedlings, incorporate a handful of worm castings into the bottom of the planting hole, essentially lining the hole with them, and then gently mix a small amount around the base of the seedling where the stem meets the soil; this provides a nutrient boost for the young roots as they establish themselves in the new soil. Key steps:

  • Dig the hole: Create a planting hole slightly larger than the seedling's root ball.
  • Add worm castings: Place a handful of worm castings at the bottom of the hole.
  • Position the seedling: Gently place the seedling into the hole, ensuring the roots are well distributed.
  • Backfill with soil: Fill the hole with the surrounding soil, lightly compacting around the stem.
  • Top dress (optional): Sprinkle a small amount of worm castings around the base of the plant where the stem meets the soil.

Important points to remember:

  • Mix well: If you are making your own potting mix, thoroughly combine worm castings with the soil before planting.
  • Don't over-apply: While worm castings are beneficial, using too much can burn the roots.
  • Water thoroughly: After transplanting, give the seedling a good watering to settle the soil.
